Popa was born in 2015 as a brand that transforms the classic Menorcan sandal into a benchmark of Mediterranean style. From Elche, the cradle of the Spanish shoemaking tradition, Popa has been able to fuse local craftsmanship with an innovative vision of footwear design.
Our founder, Miguel Ángel Lucas, comes from a family with more than 50 years of experience in the footwear industry. Inspired by the family legacy, Miguel and his team decided to reinvent the traditional Menorcan by creating the iconic Saona model, the first Menorcan with a platform, a bet that revolutionized the market.

OUR INSPIRATION
The Mediterranean is present in everything we do: from the natural materials we use, such as jute, to the colours that evoke the sea and sand. We grew up running along its beaches and those moments are reflected in every pair of shoes we design. Our name, Popa, pays homage to this seafaring essence, while our acronym also represents our commitment to authenticity: Product of Pure Authenticity.

Our focus on local production not only allows us to maintain control over quality, but also reinforces our commitment to sustainability. By keeping the entire process within a close radius, we reduce our environmental impact and encourage the development of the local community.
Popa's success is also due to its commitment to local production. The entire process of manufacturing our footwear takes place in Elche, a municipality that has been the heart of the shoe industry in Spain for centuries.
We have a team of experts who control every stage of production, from material selection to assembly and logistics. Thanks to the proximity to our suppliers, we can guarantee that every pair of shoes we produce is the result of meticulous work and of the highest quality.

The Saona model, the first Menorcan with a platform, was a true milestone in the history of the brand and in the footwear market. Since then, Popa has not stopped evolving, going from being a brand specialising in Menorcan sandals to offering a complete range of footwear for all seasons: from sandals and wedges in summer to sneakers, ankle boots and loafers in winter. In addition, we have expanded our collection to accessories such as bags and caps, always bringing our Mediterranean essence to each of them. |
