I am Stan Deng, President of Microtouch Technology Inc. and the designer of the NEWTRAL Chair. In 2002 when I was studying for my Master’s Degree at San Diego State University (SDSU), I developed severe pain in my right hand that was diagnosed as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) caused by the excessive amount of computer use I was doing, with my hands often in an unhealthy flexed position.  Also, during that time, I had several laborious jobs to help put myself through school such as loading and unloading boxes in a UPS warehouse, working in bookstores…etc., and I developed severe back pain for years. I was in despair when I found I could not work in an office with CTS, and also could no longer work in warehouse with long-term back pain.

Inspiration from Pain

While studying at San Diego State University, founder Stan Deng developed Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and severe back pain, which planted the seed for ergonomic innovation.As an ergonomics-focused brand, we at Microtouch (Newtral) design every product to solve real pain points of office workers—especially the lumbar strain caused by long hours of sitting. Our global crowdfunding success isn’t just numbers; it’s proof that we’re the top choice in the chair category.Back in 2022, we launched the world’s first Auto-Following Lumbar Support Office Chair —the result of four years of R&D and over 4 million RMB investment. It didn’t just get a video recommendation from American ergonomics expert Iris Sokol; it also raised $730,000 on INDIGOGO and broke the chair category sales record on Taiwan’s ZeZe crowdfunding platform. For the first time, the "dynamic lumbar support" concept we pioneered resonated widely across global markets.

In 2023, we took it further with our Lumbar-Care Auto-Following Chair Series on Kickstarter, the world’s largest crowdfunding platform. The response was overwhelming: 5,435 backers joined in, helping us raise $1.82 million (around 13 million RMB)—shattering the platform’s long-standing chair category crowdfunding record and cementing our No.1 position. Today, thanks to this trust, we ship at least one container of chairs daily to meet the surging overseas demand.
