Witnessing mountains of nutrient-rich coffee waste being discarded daily by local cafes in Perth, Western Australia, co-founders Julian Mitchell and Ryan Creed saw potential where others saw trash.
Guided by a desire to tread lightly on the planet, they began collecting this organic matter and repurposing it to grow mushrooms. What started as a sustainability side project soon sparked a discovery: functional mushrooms like lion’s mane, reishi, and cordyceps could be transformed into potent liquid extracts, offering a natural addition to daily wellness.
In the spirit of regeneration, Lifecykel was born – a name inspired by the full life cycle of the mushroom, and the Scandinavian approach to balanced, healthy living.
The mission: to unlock the intelligence of mushrooms, not only for sustainability, but for human vitality.
As the idea grew, so did the movement. Bio-intelligence R&D was the priority - their first hire was a scientist, laying the foundation for research-led innovation into the health-enhancing potential of mushrooms. The company expanded to Byron Bay, building on a formidable team of in-house scientists and visionaries to create functional wellness solutions. Lifecykel began cultivating more than mushrooms – a new narrative emerged where science and nature walk hand in hand, and ancient wisdom meets modern needs. And that original promise?
