The Izmi Story

Izmi was born out of one mum’s mission to make babywearing simpler, comfier, and better for both parents and babies.

Emily Rising, one of the UK's first babywearing consultants, designed the first Izmi carrier in 2016 after years of supporting families who were struggling to find a zero-faff carrier that actually worked.

She took everything she’d learned - what babies need, what parents want, what really works in real life - and poured it into Izmi’s original designs. Lightweight, ergonomic, easy to use, and truly supportive.

Fast forward to 2024, and Emily handed over the reins to Hannah Wallace of Wear My Baby - another of the UK's top babywearing experts and a long-time friend and collaborator.

As a fellow baby carrier geek, Hannah shared the same values from day one: a obsession with simple, zero-bullsh*t carriers that *actually* work, for everyone - and a belief that closeness matters, for bigger kids as well as babies.

Now, Emily leads design at Izmi, and Hannah runs the business side. Though most days, you’ll find them hugging in the middle of a photoshoot or voice-noting back and forth about fabric samples, carrier tweaks, or the best way to fold a toddler carrier into a changing bag.

Hannah and Emily also create and deliver training courses in babywearing safety for the NHS and health and birth professionals; and are helping lead the charge for improved baby carrier safety standards around the world.

Together, we’re proud to keep Izmi small, honest, and family-led. We design everything in the UK, work with trusted ethical factories, and only make what we truly believe in. No gimmicks. No over-complication. Just really, really good carriers.
