From the inception of Carbon Winches, our goal was to challenge the status quo. For years, winches had remained stagnant in terms of technology and materials. We believed we could disrupt the market with innovative thinking, introducing better designs, more features, and a more user-friendly winching experience. Our V1 was a significant step forward, and as we continue to look to the future, we identify opportunities for real improvements to meet the evolving needs of changing markets, vehicle systems, and applications. In 2025 and beyond, we will push the limits of multiple factors to drive progress in the winch industry.

Carbon Winches are designed, engineered and tested by Australian Offroad Business - KPD Industries. A 4 year project began in 2012 to build a winch that would surpass all market options that were available at the time. After that, the Carbon Winch brand was launched in June 2016 and since then has developed a solid reputation for reliability, toughness and has been tested in some of the harshest environments in Australia and overseas including the USA, Iceland and the Middle East.
We didn't stop there - We made the winch even better
Many other products on the market simply didn't prove worthy in the Australian Outback including some very popular world reowned brands, so we built our own. A strong following in the Australian market developed with proven results across thousands of customers and 5 years on the market. A full redesign of the winch over a 6 month period between January and June 2021, results in the V2 CW-12K, a culmination of 5 years of using, supplying and receiving feedback from our customers and dealer network as we improved on many aspects of the original market proven winch design.
Early 2023 we launched the Carbon 12K V3. Same core mission, but tightened everywhere it matters when you’re winching hard and doing it often. Stronger sealing, cleaner electrics, smarter thermal control, and a more refined overall package built around reliability in heat, water, mud, and long recoveries. It wasn’t a “new sticker” update. It was the next step forward based on what Australian conditions keep teaching you.
Then in 2025, we released the Carbon 12K V3X. This is the evolved version of the V3, built from another round of field use, customer feedback, and continuous refinement. More durability, more consistency under load, and more confidence when the recovery isn’t optional. Same Carbon attitude, sharper execution.
